ABOUT JANET
I was born in Lancaster, England and I live in New York
At the earliest stage of my career, I joined Vidal Sassoon in England and was quickly teaching students from around the world in the London and Manchester Academies. I began travelling globally, teaching and creating collections as part of the Sassoon Artistic Team. My destinations included Paris, Milan, Prague, Lisbon, Puerto Rico and Mexico City, to name just a few.
I left the UK and moved to San Francisco when I was asked to run the creative side of the newly launched Vidal Sassoon salon, and simultaneously open a school where I taught the legendary Vidal Sassoon technique. It was wildly successful and truly an engaging experience, but New York was where I felt I would thrive the most. Before long, Allure Magazine named me Best Haircutter NYC and Esquire Magazine credited me as Best Men’s Hair Expert.
Following my time at Vidal Sassoon, I began working with one of the most prominent and prestigious hairstylists in NYC, John Barrett. I became the Education Director and Senior Stylist in his Bergdorf Goodman location where I expanded my skill set. After 8 wonderful years I ultimately knew that it was time to fully realize my own potential, and I opened my acclaimed Gramercy boutique studio.
Always excited to grow, my passion for beauty in hair took another new direction. I studied to become a licensed Trichologist and in conjunction with my regular clientele, I introduced a very special private health and wellness area into my studio, dedicated to helping women experiencing hair loss. The studio offers solutions to issues pertaining to alopecia, trichotillomania, hormonal hair loss and hair loss due to the effects of chemo, to name a few. My long-standing expertise in hairstyling and fashion, combined with my knowledge as a licensed Trichologist, offer much sought-after solutions for all issues related to hair loss. This, coupled with my qualified support and understanding, make my clients feel amazing.
Now... after 11 years of owning a successful salon in Manhattan, I decided to join forces with other expert licensed practitioners in the health and wellness space and joined the community at The Parlor www.theparlornyc.com It’s a state-of-the-art facility for extraordinary professionals providing the very best care across the board. Janet has been an amazing resource for me and kept my spirits up by doing everything she can to keep me looking my best. I was visiting my oncologist this morning and she really couldn’t believe the wig that Janet had cut, colored and designed for me was actually a wig. She said “you just look amazing.” I have known her since 2015 and she is not naturally effusive, but she was, (about my hair) today! I get stopped all of the time by people I know and especially those I haven’t since in a while telling me how great I look. Janet is not only a wonderful person but a gifted hairstylist and wig designer. She has transformed my life.

Janet has been cutting my hair for at least 20 years. She has become a friend that I admire and respect. She has been with me through all my life’s struggles and accomplishments and I with her. While I have gone through periods of hair loss, with Janet’s skill and sensitivity to the problems , my hair always looked good. As I’ve aged, my hair loss seemed to escalate. I asked Janet to make me a wig. Not an easy time for me emotionally but Janet helped me through it. She is gentle and compassionate . The wig she had made is beautiful and while this may be hard to believe, most people have no idea it’s a wig.
The pandemic helped with that. In lockdown no one saw me. I even look younger , I think, in the cute bob cut Janet designed for this wig.
